About the artist. 

My Name is Nick Honstein and I am the sole fabricator behind Bad Dog Artifacts. I have made my living competing in martial arts and construction, but I have always considered myself an artist. I’m married to a very talented artist that you all know and support. 

As Marlie began her journey into polymer clay and expanded into a plethora of new mediums she almost effortlessly mastered, I became inspired. I began experimenting with new mediums; particularly leather and casting. I haven’t mastered my new skills as fast as my wife has. I still spend the majority of my time working construction and practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. But I’ve been quietly creating alongside Marlie for years in my spare time, hoping to eventually fabricate something I was confident selling alongside her amazing work. I will eventually build my own website. But for now I’m taking advantage of my wife’s amazingly supportive customers. 

An artifact, by definition, is a human made item of cultural or historical significance. Forgive me for being grandiose, but I chose that name as a not-so-subtle attempt of expressing my goal as a fabricator. I aim to make everything I create special, unique and timeless. In short, something your kids will fight over when you pass. 

Forgive me, please, for selfishly shoving my strange products on the shelf next to the jewelry you have all come to enjoy shopping on these special Fridays. I hope a few of you will find delight in what I have made. I’m very grateful for my wife to let me do this. But most of all, I wanted to say thank you to all of you, my wife’s loyal customer’s, for all of the support over the years. It’s been a blessing to witness the eruption of pride, creativity and passion my wife has found in her work, and you made it possible.
